Dr. Wheeler is a fellowship trained Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, having trained with some of the most talented and respected plastic surgeons in the world. Dr. Wheeler’s areas of expertise are in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Breast and Body Contouring and Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery. Over the past 10 years, he has also received additional training in the fields of Stem Cell Science and Anti-Aging Medicine and is currently recognized as a leading authority in the field of Rejuvenation and Age Management Medicine.

A native of Connecticut, Dr. Wheeler completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Connecticut. Graduating Summa Cum Laude, Dr. Wheeler’s primary Graduate Degree focus was in Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and Cardiac Rehabilitation. Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Wheeler served as the Fitness Director for the Executive Fitness Center at the Palm-Aire Spa in Pompano Beach, Florida. In addition to formulating individualized exercise prescriptions and fitness programs for an international and celebrity clientele, Dr. Wheeler conducted weekly lectures on health related topics including Exercise and Weight Control, Behavioral Modification and Stress Management. Concurrently, Dr. Wheeler held the position of Adjunct Professor of Graduate Health Education at Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Dr. Wheeler received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, in Miami, Florida. As a 4th year medical student, Dr. Wheeler completed an externship in Plastic Surgery at the Stanford University Medical Center, in Palo Alto, CA. As a medical student, Dr. Wheeler was also nominated to the medical honor societies of Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi and selected for inclusion to the National Dean’s List and Who’s Who of Students in Medicine.

Following his Internship and Residency in General Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in NYC, (an affiliate of Columbia University), Dr. Wheeler competed his Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, as well. In 1998, Dr. Wheeler was selected for a post graduate fellowship in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery under Dr. D. Ralph Millard Jr., recognized as the foremost authority on Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery in the world. While studying under Dr. Millard, Dr. Wheeler co-authored and publishedDesigns for Correction and Camouflage of Bilateral Clefts of the Lip and Palate with Dr. Millard (PRS 105: 1609, 2000) and was nominated to the prestigious D. Ralph Millard Plastic Surgery Society. Dr. Wheeler also completed an additional fellowship in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery under Dr. Bruce Connell in Santa Ana, California – recognized as one of the leading aesthetic plastic surgeons in the world.

From 1999 through 2004, Dr. Wheeler was the Medical Director and Co-Founder of Anagenesis – Center for Rejuvenation. Located in a beautiful brownstone off of 5th Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Dr. Wheeler specialized in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Anti-Aging Medicine. While practicing in NYC, Dr. Wheeler served as an Attending Plastic Surgeon at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and as an Associate Adjunct Attending in Plastic Surgery atThe New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. From 1999-2000, Dr. Wheeler also served as an adjunct clinical instructor of Anatomy at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. During his 5 years in private practice in NYC, Dr. Wheeler was a member of numerous Plastic Surgery societies and organizations, including the New York Regional Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Wheeler was also a member of the Small World Foundation, performing cleft lip and palate surgery in developing nations worldwide, traveling on missions to Belize City, Belize and Forteleza, Brazil. Dr. Wheeler considers these medical missions to be some of the most gratifying and rewarding experiences of his plastic surgery career. While in New York, Dr. Wheeler also found time to lecture extensively on plastic surgery, anti-aging medicine and health related topics, being interviewed by several magazines, radio talk shows and TV news programs.

From June 2004 through July 2005, Dr. Wheeler served as the Medical Director for The Institute for Regenerative Medicine, a stem cell research and treatment center located in Barbados, West Indies. The Institute for Regenerative Medicine was dedicated to stem cell research and the advancement and understanding of the uses of stem cells for the treatment of degenerative and debilitating diseases including the treatment of aging. As Medical Director, Dr. Wheeler wrote and co-authored Stem Cells: The Key to Unlocking the Mystery of Aging and was instrumental in the design and implementation of several clinical stem cell research studies including a protocol for an innovative stem cell facial rejuvenation treatment using a person’s own stem cells.

From May 2006 through April 2008, Dr. Wheeler returned to Private Practice in Beverly Hills, California, specializing in facial rejuvenation, breast surgery, liposuction and body contouring.

Since 2004, Dr. Wheeler has called Denver Colorado his home. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Wheeler loves the outdoors and the mountains, finding time for skiing, shoe-shoeing, running, cycling, swimming, and hiking. In November of 2008, Dr. Wheeler ran his first marathon, the NYC Marathon, which had been a dream of his to run for the previous 18 years. After undergoing knee surgery in May 2007, followed by an extended 6 month rehabilitation, Dr. Wheeler logged 600 miles over 5 months in training. The NY marathon had a special significance for Dr. Wheeler, as he was running as a member of Fred’s Team, a charity program affiliated with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, to raise money and awareness for cancer research.

In the end of August 2009, Dr. Wheeler donned on his hiking boots for yet another worthwhile cause, venturing to Tanzania, Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, to raise money and awareness for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The 5-day 50 mile climb to the top of Uhuru Peak, the 19,340 foot summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, was one of the most physically demanding and emotionally challenging experiences of his life.

On October 31, 2010, Dr. Wheeler completed his second marathon – the 2010 Athens Classic Marathon, commemorating the 2500 year anniversary of the ‘original” marathon, running in the footsteps of Pheidippides, who ran from Marathon to Athens, in 490 BC, to proclaim the Athenian victory over the invading Persians, in the Battle of Marathon It was truly a memorable experience.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Wheeler is currently working on his first book, entitled: Anagenesis MD: Ageless at any Age, detailing the keys to preventing, slowing and reversing the aging process for those interested in optimizing their health, enhancing their physical appearance and promoting their own longevity.
